Friday September 5th - A train ride from Wengen took us back to Lauterbrunnen then on to our tour bus for a ride into France. First we stopped in Martigny for lunch at Relais du Saint-Bernard. Then we headed to Chamonix and checked into our final tour hotel. After a group walk to the tram station we took 2 trams up to Aiguille du Midi, a mountain in the Mont Blanc massif within the French Alps.
Later we met up for a stroll around Chamonix. We ate dinner at 'Irish Coffee Pub' where we all had really good hamburgers. Then more wandering and photographing (and gelato!) then back to the hotel.
Saturday September 6th - A new day means a new mountain to explore! A gondola took us up to the viewpoint of Planpraz, then a cable car to the summit of Le Brévent. More beauty and tons of photos with 360° panoramic views of the Mont-Blanc chain.
Half way back down we took a short funicular to a midway point to watch all the paragliders taking off.
Then we headed back down to Chamonix for views around town.
Next a cogwheel train ride to Montenvers Mer de Glace station and a gondola ride up to the Mer de Glace. Views are of the valley glacier (the longest and largest glacier in France) located on the northern slopes of the Mont Blanc massif, in the French Alps.
We finally headed back to town for some shopping then returned to the hotel for happy our with our tour group for a final time together. Then back to town for dinner at La Ferme for some Italian food, and crepes (and ice cream for dessert). Our fun waitress photo-bombed our selfie then kindly took our picture!
