June 15, 2024

We left Bergen, Norway and flew to Prague with a layover in Amsterdam.

 

 

Since we arrived the day before the Rick Steves tour started, we checked into our hotel rooms, then headed out to explore Prague at night.

June 16, 2024

The  morning started with a bit more touring around before the offical start of the Rick Steves tour at 3pm. We bought tickets for a Hop On Hop Off type bus. Then, as recommended by our favorite tour book author, we went to Hotel U Prince to catch the great views from the top. We enjoyed some sangria and Crème Brûlée.  Then headed back to the hotel, stopping to look at souvenirs along the way. For lunch we had pizza, soup, and Greek salad, with an incredible view, at the café across from the hotel, Black Angel's Bar.

In the afternoon we met up with our new tour mates and official Rick Steves Guide, Sanel. After basic introductions and information sharing we went out to meet a local tour guide who walked us all around Prague for a 3-hour tour!  We ended at Restaurace U Mlynáře for our first dinner together. After dinner Sanal invited 2 local musicians to entertain us with Czech music. A flute player/singer and an accordion/backup singer. Then we returned to the hotel for the night.

 

 

June 17, 2024

Karen and Rodney joined the group ng (Theresa wasn't feeling well so stayed in her room) for a three-hour tour of the Prague Castle complex with its residences, castle, palaces, cathedral, and incredible view of the city.

With free time the rest of the day, we wandered, shopped (at ashopping mall with 200 stores), and of course, took lots of photos.

After a short rest and delivering some soup to Theresa, Rodney and Karen headed out again for a river cruise that was part of the Hop On Hop Off ticket.

We stopped at Meet Burger for dinner then enjoyed blue hour, taking night photos on the way back to the hotel to prepare for our bus ride to Štramberk and Kraków, Poland tomorrow.
