We took a train from Bled to Munich via Villach. The taxi company recommended a 9:30 pickup for a 10:06 train, even though it’s only a 5-minute ride. Good thing! Traffic was standing still. Our driver talked with some other drivers and ended up taking us on a detour that went through a campground, down a dirt road, and through a warehouse parking lot on the wrong side of the tracks. We arrived at 9:50. He got a big tip!
It turned out our train was 22 minutes delayed. It sprinkled a little while we waited for the train, after we got on the train it started to rain and by the time we crossed the border between Croatia and Austria, it started to really pour. The delay was going to make us miss our connection with reserved seats, but they held the train in Billach and after some confusion, we figured out which was our train and we made it. We arrived in Munich only 20 minutes later than planned.
It was only a 50 minute walk from the train station to our hotel. Our rooms were nice, the AC worked great, and of the 18 hotels we stayed in over the previous four weeks, this one had the best bathroom of all.
Somehow, we figured out the ticket machine and subway system to get to the main part of town that we remembered so fondly from our trip two years ago. (We were missing the easy-to-understand subway system in Budapest with only one exit and simple colors.) We saw the glockenspiel, the old town hall, the new town hall, the beautiful churches, the beer garden and all the great architecture.
It started to rain, so we just ran into the first open indoor restaurant that we saw and fortunately, it turned out to be a good one for one last true German meal.

After a short 10-minute walk from our hotel, we found the bus stop for the Lufthansa Express bus to the airport. For only 12€ each, we rode a really nice air conditioned bus with free Wi-Fi Direct to our terminal and avoided a 100€ taxi ride or the hassle of the confusing subway system.
We had three different flights out of the Munich airport taking us back to Colorado, Texas, and Maine. We were able to book flights within 30 minutes of each other and were all going out of Terminal 2, so we were able to postpone the goodbyes as long as possible. This was the longest trip for The Travelin’ Trio but we all agreed it wasn’t too long. We would do back-to-back Rick Steves Tours again if the right combination presented itself. Meanwhile, here’s to our last good beer and our favorite Magnum bars.

As is our custom, we met up again to work on a photobook of the Central Europe vacation. This time we got a BnB in Denver so Rodney didn't have to use any vacation days.
The 4-day weekend was full of fun, food, laughs, required teasing, and lots of computer time (and a cool sunrise on the way to the airport at 5:15am).
But the Travelin' Trio ain't done travelin' yet! We'll meet up again for the
